Star Trek: Picard - Everything We Know About Season 3
1. You're The Voice
Coming in as one of the more controversial choices for season three of Picard is to field new computer voices.
Fans will know that for the duration of TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, two episodes of Enterprise and the 2009 reboot the late Majel Barrett-Roddenberry was heard as the vocal tones of Starfleet's computer system. Indeed, Majel even recorded her voice so that in the future there might be the possibility that she would live on through the franchise as subsequent updates of the systems.
But for season three of Picard, Terry Matalas has confirmed via Twitter that there will be different voices for the Starfleet and civilian ships featured. Fans have taken to social media to voice their thoughts, though Matalas explained that neither the budget or technology was available during production of the season.
It's not the first time that Federation computer voices have been portrayed by different people. In Discovery for instance Julianne Grossman took on the duties for both the USS Enterprise and Discovery. Once Zora came into existence, Annabelle Wallis took on the role including a physical appearance in the Short Trek Calypso
