Star Trek Restored Bridge Will Be Fully Interactive

In a follow up to the news that a collective of Star Trek fans known as the 'Project Enterprise Restoration Group' plan to restore the display Bridge set of the Enterprise D from Star Trek: The Next Generation, more details have been released that should get fans excited. On a statement released on their Facebook page, the group state that the Bridge will be identical to the one that is seen on TV. By this they mean that Worf's tactical station will be extended, the raised rear platform will be the correct height and it will include all back and side chairs. But the news that should make Star Trek fans happy is that all the panels won't just be backlit plexiglass like they were on the show, instead they will all be working, touch screen computers that communicate with each other. You will be able to sound Red Alert and fire torpedoes with lights and sounds going off on the set. Also the displays will be programmed in the Lacars style as seen on the show. It sounds like every Star Trek fans dream come true and a fully interactive set is really the next best thing to being on an actual starship. The group say that it will be like an ''interactive video game'' and something that ''hasn't been achieved before'' which is true as all other replica sets have never had interactive touch screen panels. Fundraising begins on Wednesday through IndieGoGo.com where you will be able to buy t-shirts and mugs etc. They also plan to attend a convention in October where they will reveal some restored items like Captain Picard's chair. In any case, it's appears that the restoration is an ambitious undertaking and will require a lot of funds and manpower but the opportunity to walk on a ''working'' Bridge is too tantalising of an opportunity to pass, so we wish them all the best.
