Star Trek The Next Generation: Where Are They Now?
7. LeVar Burton
An impressive step forward to diverse representation
in sci-fi long before fan pressure would make such considerations commonplace,
Levar Burton’s character Lt. Geordi La Forge was a likeable nerd and one of the
series’ most warmly remembered figures. A funny, endearingly geeky presence
aboard the Enterprise, LaForge was given a few episodes in the spotlight wherein
Burton displayed the sort of easy charisma which made him a compelling leading
man since 1988’s seminal Roots.
The actor went on to play Martin Luther King in Michael Mann’s Ali, but his career in television is where much of the actor’s later work can be found, appearing in series ranging from NCIS: New Orleans, Family Guy, and Community, to children’s series such as Adventure Time and Miles From Tomorrowland. In 2016, Burton even appeared in a remake of his most famous work, Roots.
