Star Trek: Top 10 Riker Moments

1. Mr. Worf...Fire - The Best Of Both Worlds, Part 1

It was the cliffhanger than defined how television would approach shock endings forevermore. Captain Picard had been assimilated by the Borg, long before we truly understood what that meant. Riker was now in charge of the Enterprise and he had one hell of a first command decision to make.

Presented with his former commanding officer now seemingly joining the enemy, and with time running out to put their defence plan into motion, Riker gives the only command that he can. He orders Worf to fire the superpowered beam from the deflector dish, believing this will destroy the Cube, and Picard along with it.

It was a hell of a move for Star Trek to make as The Next Generation closed out its third season. We understand that new managers want to put their own stamp on the role - but blowing up the former top guy does seem a tad much, Will!
