Star Trek: Top 10 Riker Moments

8. Reading The Room - A Matter Of Honour

Star Trek The Next Generation A Matter Of Honor Riker And Kargon
CBS Media Ventures

When Riker participates in the Officer Exchange Program between Starfleet and the Klingon Empire, he throws himself in entirely. He samples the cuisine, he flirts with the women, and he knocks the boys to the ground with relative ease. All of which help solidify his position.

As a human, Riker is perceived weak by the Klingons around him, but he uses this to his advantage. Having studied Klingon etiquette with Worf, he knows when to attack, and when to take a hit. Klag may get thrown to the ground, but Kargon gets the final blow when he knocks Will to the floor.

A Matter Of Honor is an episode that isn't often mentioned, though contains some truly fun moments aboard the Bird-Of-Prey. If nothing else, it shows Riker adapting on the fly, learning everything there is to know about this new situation he finds himself in. He even manages to give Klag a bit of advice when it comes to dealing with the latter's father.
