Star Trek: Top 10 Underrated Next Generation Episodes

1. Genesis

riker caveman While Picard and Data are away on a shuttle mission, the crew of the Enterprise starts to deal with a widespread virus that causes the crew to devolve into animal-like creatures. Riker is turned into a caveman, Troi into a frog, Worf into a predator like animal that I can only assume is a prehistoric Klingon, Barclay into a spider, and Spot into a lizard for whatever reason. Picard and Data return to the ship and find it in ruins, and they must concoct a retro-virus while eluding the dangers on board including Riker and Worf. It's definitely the closest thing to cheesy science fiction as the show ever came with a virus causing the crew to attack each other and Picard and Data. This episode even garnered an Emmy nomination for Michael Westmore for Outstanding Makeup. While some episodes on this list took a good concept and poorly executed it, this episode did just the opposite by taking a sci-fi cliche and turning it into something great in an otherwise lackluster season 7.
