Star Trek: Top 10 Underrated Next Generation Episodes

3. Descent

descentparttwo168 Again, it is a rare treat to see Data, a being of superior strength and intellect, cross into morally grey areas such as in "Power Play," but it is here where it goes to extremes. An awesome finale with an exceptionally weak conclusion for a premiere, the Enterprise beams down to a Federation science station where they encounter the Borg, and they show signs of independence, obviously a repercussion of the events of "I, Borg," and start shooting at the away team! Data, in a brief fit of rage, takes pleasure by snapping a Borg's neck, which causes him great distress. The Enterprise later discovers that the Borg have developed transwarp capabilities, and mirroring the technique they follow the Borg to their base on Oniaka III where they discover that their leader is, for some reason, wait for it... Lore, and he shut off Data's ethical subroutine turning him into a psychotic torture mastermind. You read that right. The first part was great, but the second part just seemed like a cop out way to bring Lore back into the picture one last time. I still say watch it, though.
