The idea of a hero disguising themselves an Empire employee is an old trope in Star Wars. Finn and Rose pretended to be Imperial officers in The Last Jedi. Luke and Han dressed as Stormtroopers in the original Star Wars.

So, it's not too surprising Obi-Wan Kenobi made a reference to this running joke by including a scene of our hero pretending he's working with The Empire.

But the disguise that Obi-Wan wears while escaping Fortress Inquisitorius with Leia is so ludicrous, it feels more suited to Spaceballs that the iconic sci-fi franchise.

To get out of the facility, Obi-Wan dons the attire of an Imperial officer. But his it fits so badly, it's blatantly obvious it's not his uniform. Even though Imperial officers can't have facial hair, nobody notices Obi-Wan has a beard.

But the most preposterous moment is how Obi-Wan hides Leia. To make sure nobody sees her, he places her under his coat. This guy is a legendary Jedi Knight and that's the best strategy he came up with.

You know what the silliest thing is? Obi-Wan's plan works! Even though he looks unkempt, his clothes don't fit, and there's a suspiciously massive bulge poking out of his uniform, nobody notices!
