Star Wars: 8 Reasons The Clone Wars Was Better Than The Prequels

4. Better Fight Scenes

Altar33 Sure, there are a lot of pretty good fight scenes in the prequels. Anakin and Obi-Wan€™s duel with Dooku comes to mind. So does Obi-Wan and Anakin€™s final battle. But as Mr. Plinkett points out, these seem more like video game fights than film fights. There€™s little emotion because of how contrived the plot and bad the acting has been. They€™re pretty, but not particularly interesting. And they don€™t have anything resembling the weight of Luke and Vader€™s duels, or Obi-Wan€™s battle to the death. Clone Wars, despite being a goddamn cartoon, has fight scenes with infinitely more weight. My personal favorite is between (spoiler) Darth Maul and Palpatine, and between Anakin and the traitor padawan in the series finale. Those fight scenes are great because they are fueled by emotion, history, desire, and need. They are extensions of the characters. They are not taking place because €œthe script says there€™s a fight now.€
