3. Its For Kids
A lot of the faults of the prequels get excused because people say its a kids movie. Leaving aside the fact that there are plenty of great films that are also kids movies, this just isnt true. As Mr. Plinkett points out, the movies are full of very kid unfriendly things like bureaucracy, trade negotiations, super-duper romance, murder and implied rape, violence, child murder, etc. If theyre kids movies, theyre wildly inappropriate and also boring. Clone Wars is on cartoon network. Its a kids show. There are no plots about trade negotiations. One of the protagonists is a kid, because its a kids show. The plots are kid-friendly. The characters are kid-friendly. THAT DOESNT MEAN ITS BAD, it means its aimed at kids and accessible to everyone. Its honest about its audience, and thats a good thing. And once you get the hang of it, its pretty fun to watch the kiddee bits. For example, every episode starts with a cheesy voiceover that inevitably ends with something like or so they think! Its fun. And there are some good things about it being a kids show. Every episode starts with a single quote, an offering of wisdom. Its like watching a Jedi training video.
