Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 10 - 5 Ups & 2 Downs From "Phantom Apprentice"

6. Up - Maul

Since his shocking return in Clone Wars Season 4 Episode 21, Brothers, Maul has been one of the show's best recurring characters. With Phantom Apprentice, Maul solidifies himself as the single greatest villain in the show.

Voice actor Sam Witwer is on point the entire episode. Every line he delivers chills to the bone.

Maul is also just as badass as he's ever been in this episode. The way he casually deflects Rex's blaster fire like it's nothing shows his true power. It's easily believable that this Maul could have taken over Mandalore.

Additionally, Maul's true motivation is a great twist. He foresaw that Anakin will become Palpatine's new apprentice, and orchestrated the war to bring him to Mandalore to kill him. Though not a fool proof plan, it's Palpatine-ness shows how far his old apprentice has come.

Season 7 had been teasing Maul for a while, with cameos in both of the previous episodes. That teasing has finally paid off.
