Star Wars: Rebels - 12 Easter Eggs, In-Jokes And References You Need To See

1. Luke Skywalker Is In It

Star Wars Rebels Luke

Luke Skywalker, you know the guy - son of Darth Vader, saviour of the galaxy, hero of the original trilogy, made out with his sister - does actually make a sneaky appearance in Star Wars Rebels.

While the Luke that is now known to generations of moviegoers didn’t appear until A New Hope, set a few years after the events of Rebels, a different incarnation appears briefly in a scene where Ezra wanders a marketplace.

There’s an older gentlemen who we see making a purchase in front of him, and that is actually Luke Skywalker, just not as we know him. The character is based on the design of General Luke Skywalker, from a Dark Horse comic based on George Lucas’ first draft of The Star Wars, who was a mentor to Annikin Starkiller.

Eventually, Annikin became Luke, Starkiller became Skywalker, and Star Wars became one of the biggest films of all time, but this is a nice nod to just what it could have been like.
