Star Wars Rebels: 9 Reasons You Need To Be Watching

2. Storytelling

One of the most important factors in Star Wars is its storytelling, and Rebels is a great example of this. Growing in strength since it started, Rebels provides fans with some superb character development and moments, most of which include Ezra's journey. When Rebels premiered, Ezra was just a young, lonely orphan who has since morphed into a powerful Jedi padawan.

The show grows with its audience, and it’s not just Ezra who has time devoted to him. Each character in Rebels has their personal backstory, with some episodes entirely dedicated to them. Sabine is one shining example, who gets some neat expansion with an episode about her fellow kind; the bounty-hunting Mandalorians.

Rebels manages to blend action, drama and humour all into one with its exceptional storytelling. There are laugh-out-loud moments, and fight scenes that'll leave viewers on the edge of their seats. And that's all thanks to the writing team, who know how to get the most out of their characters.

George Lucas has gone on record to say that Star Wars is first and foremost for kids, but with the help of writers such as Simon Kinberg and Carrie Beck, Rebels manages to delve into some of the darker aspects of the Star Wars universe, which appeals to the older audience. The show doesn’t stray away from getting too dark, and that’s part of its appeal.
