Star Wars Rumour: Taika Waititi & Bryce Dallas Howard To Star In The Mandalorian?!
Thor: Ragnarok's director set to play a droid?
We might have some idea of who Jon Favreau wants to play the leads in his hotly aniticipated first ever live action Star Wars TV show, which is coming to Disney's new streaming service.
Pedro Pascal had been suggested as the possible star of the new series, which will take up after the fall of the Empire but before the rise of the First Order, but two other names have now emerged as well. According to Discussing Film, Taika Waititi and Bryce Dallas Howard are in line for acting roles on the show alongside their directing duties for producer Favreau.
Howard has obviously seen a major profile rise thanks to her involvement in the Jurassic World movies, and while there's no hint of who she would be playing at this stage, she'd be a strong acquisition for the show. Not to mention, she's a big enough name, like Pascal, to suggest exactly how motivated Disney are to make this show as big a deal as a movie.
The report also claims that Thor: Ragnarok director (and sometimes actor) Taika Waititi might be lending his voice to a droid character. Given how well his appearance as Korg the Kronan in Ragnarok went down - and how much Star Wars film-makers seem to love droid comic relief - that's got to be exciting for his fans.
For now, we await confirmation of the talent, though we do have a list of the directors who will be tackling the show, including the likes of Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow, along with Taika Waititi, and Bryce Dallas Howard, of course.
