The Galaxy's most lovable and dependable droid, R2-D2 has a major role to play in The Clone Wars, mainly due to his inseparable bond with Anakin Skywalker and his ability to escape countless life-threatening situations along the way.

A great source of comic relief as well as a well-used plot device to advance the challenging development of Anakin, R2 is often seen in the show's lighter episodes, offering up stories filled with much less dread and horror than the adventures surrounding his closest allies.

One of the best things about R2's involvement in the show, though, has to be the call-backs to the original trilogy. We get to see his relationship with Yoda, which makes their interaction in The Empire Strikes Back even funnier than it already was, and how Anakin's protective relationship with him exemplifies just how emotional the future Dark Lord can be.
