One issue with doing Star Wars on TV has long been that of the budget it'd need to work. If it were to air on ABC, which was the most likely home for any such series prior to Disney announcing their streaming service, then it'd have to be massively stripped back, which is difficult to do with this galaxy.

Luckily, though, Disney are throwing a LOT of money at their projects in an attempt to make a huge splash in the streaming market right from the off, and it's been reported that this series will have a budget of $100m for its first season, which is currently expected to have 8.

Notably, that puts it in the same sort of bracket as HBO behemoths Game of Thrones and Westworld, which should give us an indication of what this is aiming for in terms of scale. Favreau's show he can do both action and big visual effects, and this kind of budget will allow him to do that on TV now as well.
