Stargate: 10 Reasons Why NOW Is The Perfect Time To Bring The Franchise Back
1. Passionate Fan Community
There's still a vibrant community of Stargate fans out there, mainly maintained through GateWorld, the complete Stargate fan site. With Stargate SG-1 now on Netflix, there's every chance that enough interest will be generated in the series again through new viewers (as is what happened with Prison Break) to inspire an attempt at a revival.
Stargate as a franchise has always allowed for action-packed, easy-to-follow military science fiction action and has endeared itself to more than one generation of fans over it's lifetime and there's still plenty more possibility out there for new shows, new movies, new games, new something to fill the gap in our hearts.
In the age of streaming shows, big-budget revivals and retro-appreciation, the omission of Stargate from the line-up is a missed opportunity, one that could be both lucrative and rewarding. So let's bring it back, let's dial up the DHD, watch the chevrons spin and step through the event horizon to the worlds waiting beyond.
As Isaac Asimov said, "Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinder critics and the philosophers of today - but the core of science fiction, its essence has become crucial to our salvation... if we are to be saved at all."
