Stargate: 10 Reasons Why NOW Is The Perfect Time To Bring The Franchise Back

8. Serialised Streaming Shows

Disney+ carries the Mandalorian, CBS All Access (or Netflix, depending on where you are in the world) carries Star Trek: Discovery, HBO Max carries Watchmen, all of these are now the kind of show that audiences expect. They are short, serialised, have great big budgets and deliver a binge-hit that wiles away a weekend every year or so.

Gone are the year-long twenty-two-episode seasons of old, but in their place are high concept series like Altered Carbon, The Handmaid's Tale and The Man In The High Tower. These shows tend towards the six-to-ten episode package, each built around a central idea that branches out to explore the world around it.

While Stargate has never aimed to be like that, now is the time to try a single concept show set in the Stargate franchise, with a great cast of characters and a central idea taken from the previous shows and expanded upon.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
