Stargate: Every Series And Movie Ranked Worst To Best
21. Stargate SG-1: Season 8
Despite featuring some stand out episodes ('Threads' is easily one of the best Daniel and one of the best Anubis episodes there is) and a few fun ones ('Zero Hour' and 'Citizen Joe' are pretty amusing while 'Prometheus Unbound' introduces the irascible Vala Mal Doran), it's clear that this season was less than the sum of it's parts. The showrunners at the time were clearly tired of their main plotlines and did their best to round them up, without taking too much care as to how they did it.
While 'Reckoning' is an epic two-part conclusion to the main war against the Goa'uld and the threat of the Replicators, there isn't much preparation or build-up to it and it kind of felt tacked on after the climactic battle at the end of Season 7.
This was also the year that Richard Dean Anderson had decided that he wanted to take more time off, leaving the role of squad leadership and becoming the replacement for the late, beloved General George Hammond. This left the show with a kind of half-finished feel and a kind of resentment for O'Neill, who Anderson should have retired at the end of Season 7 instead.
