And finally at the top of the list is Season 7 of SG-1, the season where we got Daniel Jackson back and what was initially intended to be the final season of the show. After the climactic ending to Season 6, we know that Anubis is more powerful than ever, the Goa'uld are almost completely behind him. SG-1 have to rise to the challenge of his new army of Kull Warriors and a host of other threats.

There are a number of stand-out episodes in this season, 'Lifeboat' won Michael Shanks a Leo award, while 'Orpheus' and 'Birthright' are both strong episodes for Teal'c. The season comes to a head when Osiris invades Daniel's dreams and the Kull Warriors lay waste to the Alpha Site. The two-parter 'Heroes' was nominated for several awards and delves into the heart-breaking realisation of living the military life.

As the season draws to a close, the fleet of Anubis descends on Earth and it's up to SG-1 to enact a desperate plan to save the planet, with the Prometheus standing guard over them in what is one of the most moving visual sequences in the series. This season went out on a high note and served as the platform to launch Stargate Atlantis, but could have been used to further more of the franchise beyond that.

After over 400 episodes and three movies of this franchise, we can only hope that it hasn't peaked here... hopefully, there's more beyond the Gate in the future.
