Stargate: Every Series And Movie Ranked Worst To Best
2. Stargate SG-1: Season 9
Given the conclusion to Season 8 of SG-1 saw the empire of the Goa'uld shattered and the threat of the Replicators dealt with, the show was clearly meant to be winding down but was renewed for a ninth season. The producer team decided that instead of trying to tease more life out of stories that were clearly finished (as Season 8 had done), they would treat Season 9 as if it were the start of an almost brand-new show, a spin-off of itself.
Enter the Ori, a new threat from a distant galaxy. The name Ori refers both to the legions of humans who worship and to those who are worshipped, ascended beings on a par with the Ancients themselves, beings who can claim to be Gods and be taken a lot more seriously than the Goa'uld, with a heavy dose of Arthurian legend mixed in.
With the departure of Richard Dean Anderson, there was also a gap for leading man and it seems that Farscape was having a two-for-one sale on now-unemployed cast members. Ben Browder took over leading man duties, while Claudia Black served as a frequent stand-in guest character until she joined the cast fully in Season 10.
This season brought some old faces back while also expanding the universe. The newly formed Jaffa Nation, the machinations of Ba'al, the insidious messages of the Priors... all would be deadly challenges for the new SG-1, all leading to a season finale that was the largest gut-punch the show had ever delivered to it's loyal fans in 'Camelot'.
