Stranger Things: 10 Best Supporting Characters

Joyce Byers went through a terrible time in the show’s first season: her youngest son Will disappeared, and nobody believed her claims that he was still alive.

In season two, it looked like everything was getting better for her. Not only did she have her son back, she was now romantically involved with Bob Newby (Lord Of The Rings and The Goonies’ Sean Astin). And he was the best.

The nicest and most wholesome character to have featured on the show, all Bob wanted was to connect with the Byers boys and be a family together. He was utterly devoted to Joyce and would do everything in his power to help her and her children, including aiding them in their second battle against the forces of the Upside Down.

The fight took him to Hawkins Lab where he was able to use his knowledge of coding to override a lockdown so that the others could escape. But just when it looked like Bob had narrowly escaped the jaws of a Demidog, he was unexpectedly tackled by another only feet away from Joyce.

Just like Joyce, viewers could only watch on helplessly as our hero was viciously mauled.

Bob may be gone, but he's not forgotten.
