Stranger Things: 15 Best Easter Eggs (So Far)

3. Stand By Me

The subtle homages to '80s young adult films continued throughout the first season when Eleven, Mike, Lucas and Dustin made their way down a long and winding abandoned train track in the woods.

From the angle in which the scene was shot to the fact that four kids were walking down it, it was a clear callback to the beloved 1986 coming-of-age film Stand By Me, in which four small town boys set off to locate another boy's body and, in doing so, make their way down similar tracks.

It was a fitting reference, given that it took place as the gang set out to prove that the body discovered in Hawkins was fake and that, in fact, their missing friend, Will Byers, was still alive. An ironic twist on a classic story, Mike, El, Dustin and Lucas weren't looking for the body, they were looking for Will.
