Stranger Things: 15 Best Easter Eggs (So Far)

12. Needful Things

The Stranger Things opening credits are, without a doubt, an unnerving sight to behold - and one that owes a lot to '80s horror films. The font itself, however, takes its cues from a different horror medium.

From its large red letters to the presentation of the logo, it bares a striking resemblance to the font featured on the classic covers of many of Stephen King's novels.

Matt Duffer would later confirm this in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, commenting:

"We were working with... Imaginary Forces, and I think we sent them 14 or 15 different covers... 90 percent Stephen King paperback covers, that we really liked."

Though they don't outright reference Needful Things, it's pretty clear that it was one of the more influential ones, because the font on the cover is almost identical.

No better way to introduce the world to a horror show than by referencing the King of Horror himself, right?
