Stranger Things: 15 Stupid Mistakes You Completely Missed

7. Chicago's Modern Skyline

Both the creative team and production crew of Stranger Things have done a fantastic job of ensuring that it always looks and feels like its set in the 1980s. From the visuals to the music to the props, the show has an inherently '80s aesthetic. That said, there was one particular instance which fans noticed something a little strange about the timeline, if you will.

The show's controversial 'Lost Sister' episode took the action to Chicago and when Eleven made her way through the big city for the first time in her life, savvy social media users pointed out that the city's skyline featured a number of out-of-place buildings.

Among them were Trump International Hotel & Tower which didn't open until 2009, the Two Prudential Plaza building which wasn't built until 1995 and the Blue Cross Shield Tower which didn't exist until 1997.

Hardly a major issue (especially considering we're talking about an episode that fans had more than enough with), it's easily forgivable because trying to turn back time in a city was always going to be more logistically challenging than doing so in a small fictional town.
