8. The Disappearing Dog

Though it wasn't particularly obvious on the first go-around, this one has kind of taken on a life of its own as more and more fans rewatching the show have noticed it.

The Byers' family dog, Chester, is featured multiple times throughout the show's first season as the writers often used his connection to Will to either reveal important information or tug on viewers' heartstrings. It's ultimately effective, which is why it's particularly baffling that the beloved pet has just vanished by the time Season 2 begins.

Rumor has it the creative team planned to retroactively kill Chester off and show his grave in the Byers' garden in Season 3 to give closure to his time on the show, but it never made the cut.

Though Chester's apparent death could have always been the plan, the fact that Joyce, Will or Jonathan never once referred to him post-Season 1 made his absence seem like more of an oversight than anything else - and this made it all the more glaring for those of us who did notice that the dog was no longer on the show.
