Stranger Things 2 Trailer: 10 Shots You Must See

6. Down The Rabbit Hole

The silhouette of Jim Harper is seen staring down this... rabbit hole, for lack of a better word.

It looks very much like the gateway to the Upside Down, but it doesn't appear to be the same one witnessed in season one. Perhaps other portals have opened (we already know there's been more than one) - or perhaps the original has grown or changed some way. That might actually make sense if something bigger is trying to break through, after all.

There's a few reasons to take a closer look at this shot. For one, it looks as if Harper is venturing in alone. And not exactly heavily armed. We know the environment in the Upside Down is harsh to say the least - yet there's no sign of him having a hazmat suit handy.

Then there's the lighting. As much of a nod to the 80s as Stranger Things is, lighting a shot with a flashlight was very much the hallmark of The X-Files, a show that also dealt with government coverups, conspiracies, and science run amok.
