Stranger Things 3: 11 Best Chief Hopper Moments Of The Season

9. "I Want You To Feel Safe"

Stranger Things Hopper David Harbour
Netflix

Harbour gets to do what he does best here, peeling back the curtain on Hopper's emotions for the first real time in the entire season with a surprisingly heartfelt and open monologue to Joyce in which he tells her; "I want you to feel safe".

First things first, this is a sincerely earnest moment between Joyce and Hopper, two of the season's biggest MVPs, with both Ryder and Harbour delivering A+ performances. But it is also the first real moment of the season where the any of the characters themselves really address the elephant in the room; the lingering trauma of the prior two seasons

It is precisely because of this that this moment is so impactful.

Hearing Hopper begin to explore his own PTSD and open up to Joyce, telling her just how important it is to him that she still feels safe and at home in Hawkins, results in a genuinely touching moment of honesty between these two characters.
