Stranger Things 3: 11 Best Chief Hopper Moments Of The Season

When Joyce, Hopper, and Murray all descend into the Russian base beneath Starcourt Mall, they are quickly spotted by several Russian guards. Murray tries to talk their way out of it to no avail, only for Hopper to shove him out of the way and proceed to shoot all of the guards before they have a chance to report them. All of this goes completely against their established plan, as Hopper "improvises".

In a nutshell, this scene is kind of the perfect microcosm of Hopper as a character. As played by Harbour, Hopper is the put-upon everyman who is constantly in over his head in these situations and having to "improvise" his own way out.

Notably, this moment also harkens back to Hopper's penultimate influence, Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark where when faced with a fore that will take to long to deal with, Indy simply shoots to speed up the whole process.
