Stranger Things: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best

Speaking of characters that you wish had been there since season one, enter Bob Newby. He’s the perfect boyfriend for Joyce and the perfect surrogate father for Will and Jonathan. Caring, funny and just the right amount of nerdy.

So, of course he gets brutally murdered by a Demodog before the end of his first season. Apparently the Byers family aren't allowed to be happy for even one second.

Bob proved himself to be more than just a nice side character as well. When our heroes needed his help figuring out Will’s strange new drawings, he used his cartography skills to work out that they were all showing an underground map of Hawkins. Later, he also used his mastery of the BASIC programme language to restore the power to Hawkins Lab and reverse the lockdown procedures that trapped everyone inside.

Bob Newby only ever said that he was a superhero as a joke, but he proved himself more than worthy of that title. His brief flashback cameo in the third season proves how much he is missed by not only Joyce, but also by everyone else who knew him.
