If you asked most Stranger Things fans back in 2016 who their least favourite character was, Steve would probably be a common answer. These days, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who isn’t absolutely in love with the high school jock turned bat-wielding hero.

Steve was something of a Billy Hargrove in the first season, although much less sociopathic. All he cared about was ditching school and getting with Nancy, then everything changed when he first swung that baseball bat full of nails at the Demogorgon.

In season two, the seriousness with which he took his role as child carer while the adults went off to Hawkins Lab earned him even more fan adoration. His brotherly relationship with Dustin especially is something that fans just can’t get enough of.

Steve and his amazing Farrah Fawcett spray hair have more than earned their spot at the top of this list and if anything happens to him in season four, Netflix will likely find themselves buried under a mountain of fan complaints. They have been warned.
