8. Mike Wheeler
Let the record show that Mike Wheeler gets more hate than he deserves. Yes, he can sometimes be a little overbearing and he has a habit of taking charge of situations whether his friends actually want him to or not, but it’s clear to see that this is all motivated by a genuine love for his friends and a desire to see everyone safe.
In season one, he’s the one leading the charge to find Will when most other people in the town, especially the adults, believe that he’s dead. In season two, he’s always right by Will’s side like a second big brother, making sure that he’s feeling alright every step of the way.
The way he cares for Eleven is also very sweet, even if them making googly eyes at each other for the entirety of season three does get a little annoying after a while.
Even though he’s growing up, Mike firmly remains the one in his friend group with the heart of gold.
