Stranger Things Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

4. How The Adults Are Coping

While much of the focus is on the kids, the adults of Stranger Things are equally great to watch. Jim Hopper was one of the most relatable and human elements of the first season, serving as the perfect foil for the children and our eyes into some of the bigger mysteries, while Joyce served as a real emotional link.

Even though Will is back, Joyce's story is far from over. Her son is struggling with his return, and she has a new man in her life: Bob, played by Sean Astin. He's a former classmate of hers and Hopper's, and Ryder said: "She’s trying to mask a lot. I think she’s made this choice with Bob because she wants a good father figure in her sons’ lives.”

As for Hopper, he has to deal with being the man in the know, and trying to prevent everyone else from finding out what happened. Harbour said: "It kind of falls on Hopper to be the voice of authority to say, ‘This did happen and this didn’t happen. He’s struggling with the compromise that takes him to, having to lie and cover things up."

Harbour's also teased his character being deeper into the Department of Energy than perhaps people realise, while there's also some potential for a love triangle to form, as apparently he won't be too happy with the fact Joyce is dating Bob.
