Stranger Things Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
11. The New Cast Members
One of the biggest reasons the first season of Stranger Things was such a mammoth success was its cast, with unknown kids (the kind Spielberg himself would've cast back in the day) bringing a sense of wonder, and joined by veterans Winona Ryder and David Harbour for a more adult grounding to the series.
Just seeing those characters back would be enough - and they will all return - but the show is adding a few fresh faces for Season 2. Joining the main cast are two new kids, brother-and-sister Billy and Max, played by Dacre Montgomery (Power Rangers) and Sadie Sink (American Odyssey). Max, a tomboyish teen, will become friends with the boys and become something of a love interest to both Dustin and Lucas. Billy, however, seems set to be more of a villain, as Matt Duffer told EW:
"Stephen King always has really great human villains. The evil in the real world is often as bad or worse than the supernatural evil, so we wanted to introduce a character like that."
The adult additions include a couple of 80s stars, Sean Astin (The Goonies, though he is of course now better known for Lord of the Rings) and Paul Reiser (Aliens). Astin will be a new love interest for Ryder's Joyce, while Reiser will play a higher-up in the Department of Energy.
The other new additions are Brett Gerlman as Murray Bauman, a former journalist turned conspiracy theorist; Will Chase as Neil Mayfield, the father of a family of recent transplants to Hawkins; and Linnea Berthelsen as Roman, a woman who was emotionally damaged as a child and has come to Hawkins due to events tied in with the strange events of the town.
