Supergirl: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
3. Alex Danvers
Alex Danvers has been through a lot over the past few years and somehow, someway, she's more badass than ever.
A determined, focused and reliable agent, her job at the D.E.O. has allowed her to protect the earth from harmful alien life long before her sister first donned her cape. That being said, even after Supergirl burst onto the scene, she found a way to keep the organization both relevant and effective - and that was by working with her. Moreover, she has never been the kind of person to shy away from the super-powered and that determination has allowed her to protect (and save) Kara on a number of occasions.
However, the best thing about Alex Danvers is that underneath that hard exterior, there is a well-developed and unbelievably mushy human being who, in the last four years, has gone on a journey of self-discovery to finally accept who she is and, in doing so, has fearlessly shared herself with the world.
From her coming out saga (and her relationship with Maggie) to her long-running desire to be a mother, Alex's stories are always Supergirl's most human and that, alongside an Emmy-worthy turn from the incomparable Chyler Leigh (who, by the way, has the most effective 'cry face' in Hollywood) ensure that she has remained one of the show's most engaging characters.
