Supergirl Season 2: 6 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The Last Children Of Krypton'

5. The Superman And Martian Manhunter Dynamic

Following on from their uneasy alliance in last week’s The Adventures of Supergirl, this week’s episode further delved into the relationship between Superman and J’onn J’onzz.

Whilst last week saw this pair at opposite sides of the argument when it came to the handling and storing of Kryptonite by the DEO, The Last Children of Krypton took that brewing situation and ran with it. In fact, during the first act of the episode, it looked as if these two superheroes were actually about to go to blows. That would have made for a high-octane, explosive moment for the show, but the situation would unfortunately (for us viewers) be temporarily defused.

That altercation itself would’ve been enough to land the Man of Steel and Martian Manhunter relationship on the “Ups” of this list, but further light was shed on this dynamic as the duo got to spend some quality time together in the Fortress of Solitude. As both made their valid points to one another, each felt like a true superhero in their own right during this particular exchange, and rather than seeing Hank Henshaw and Superman dancing around a tense situation, we were instead given two aliens in Kal-El and J’onn J’onzz partaking in an honest, frank, genuine exchange where both were equally in the right and in the wrong.
