Supergirl Season 2: 6 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The Last Children Of Krypton'

4. Addressing Superman’s Absence

There’s nothing worse than a movie or TV show bringing an all-powerful, ever-wise superhero into the mix after we’ve already seen a game-changing threat rear its head and been dealt with. And that was one of the questions some of us were asking after Superman’s debut last week: Just where was the Man of Steel when Astra and Non were looking to wipe out Supergirl and the planet last season?

Whilst The Last Children of Krypton didn’t exactly answer this question, it did at least address the situation as we saw J’onn J’onzz bring up just this point when he and the Big Blue Boy Scout were involved in their heated argument.

This was a clever move from The CW as otherwise it ran the risk of insulting the intelligence of its viewers whilst also making some of its core characters look naïve and stupid for similarly not addressing this. Fortunately, this was at least touched upon here, even if we never really got any in-depth reasoning as to Supes’ absence last year.
