Supergirl Season 2: 7 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Adventures Of Supergirl'

1. The Handling Of Kara And Jimmy

Yes, it was great to see that Supergirl seems to be dropping the Kara Danvers and Jimmy Olsen romance from here on out, but the way that this was handled was one of the poorest parts of a mesmerising season premiere.

After having pined for each other for the whole of last season – even though, y’know, Jimmy was simultaneously shacking up with Lucy Lane – and having spent nearly all of The Adventures of Supergirl trying to get an official first date sorted, the budding relationship was just dropped in the blink of an eye.

Despite all the build-up, all of the previous will they/won’t they tension, it felt too easy and a little lazy for the Supergirl writing staff to just drop the whole romance during the final part of this season premiere.

Don't get me wrong, it's great that this happened, it's just the way that it was handled felt a little bungled and almost like an afterthought. The ending of this budding romance was best for the future of the show, but it was something that could've been fleshed out and executed far better than just a quick line from Kara to say that she'd decided this wasn't what she wanted now.
