Supergirl Season 2: 7 Ups And 2 Downs From 'The Adventures Of Supergirl'

Downs...

2. Superman’s Kryptonite Conundrum

I’m pretty sure we can all agree that Tyler Hoechlin’s debuting Superman was a huge plus point of The Adventures of Supergirl, but that’s not to say that the Man of Steel was completely flawless in this season premiere.

It may only be a minor gripe, but it just felt a little off for Superman to not see the benefit of J’onn J’onzz and the DEO to have some Kryptonite in their possession. After all, apart from Max Lord, the greatest threat of Supergirl’s first season centred on pesky Kryptonians who looked to cause chaos and carnage for the Maid of Might and the innocent citizens of National City.

In addition to this, there’s always the possibility of Superman somehow going rogue, and, as such, having some of the ‘good guys’ having access to Kryptonite is a no-brainer. Otherwise, you’re left without any form of defence against an untouchable God-like figure who can destroy the planet on a whim.

In the comic book world and in various other mediums, so often we’ve seen Superman well aware of the benefits of having some of the good guys in control of Kryptonite. In fact, he’s even been known to give Kryptonite to a certain Dark Knight just in case the worst happens. So to see him so against the DEO having Kryptonite here felt out of character for this otherwise flawless depiction of the Last Son of Krypton.
