Supergirl Season 4: 4 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Menagerie'

1. Sisterhood Reigns Supreme

Supergirl Kara Alex
The CW

Alex's struggles with her personal life, and Kara's struggles with the fact that her sister no longer knows her secret, created some beautifully natural internal conflict for both of them. Alex was upset that she suddenly had free time (unaware that it was because she didn't know Kara's secret anymore) and wasn't using it while Kara felt guilty that, in the past, her life as Supergirl was preventing her sister from having a life. So, what did they do when this crisis arose? Well, they worked it out together, as sisters.

Just when Kara finally accepted that her relationship with Alex would no longer be the same, the D.E.O. Director softened, realising that she had to understand that people could look after themselves. From there, they found some common ground again and, in doing so, reminded us all why their relationship is the best that the show has to offer.

The pair's bond has been, in many ways, the heart of the show since the very beginning. But it's only now that it has been altered that we realise just how much we've missed it. While they've spent the majority of the season together, by each other's side in battle, there hasn't been much time for family bonding and, in hindsight, this actually hindered the season.

When everything is going well, things can get complacent. However, throw in a little conflict and it can really change things up - that's exactly what happened here. Together, Kara and Alex found a way through their struggles and, though Alex is unaware of what she has lost, she is aware of the fact that these sisters can overcome anything when they're together.

Now, for the negatives...
