Supergirl Season 4: 5 Ups & 0 Downs From 'Call To Action'

2. Standing Her Ground

Supergirl Alex Lauren
The CW

Since arriving on the scene, Colonel Lauren Haley has dictated what Alex should and shouldn't be doing as Director of D.E.O. It was undoubtedly a period of adjustment for the former agent, but it was one that she quickly got used to. That is, until she found out that Haley secretly hates aliens too - a move that has created an interesting dynamic at the Department of Extranormal Operations.

Haley continued to throw her weight around in this week's episode, banning Alex from dealing with the Children of Liberty and attempting to stop Supergirl from dealing with everyday crimes. Of course, that didn't work as the pair investigated with Brainy without the Colonel's consent, ultimately proving the newcomer wrong one more time.

However, when threatened with punishment, Alex stood her ground, affirming that she took up the position because of her instinct - an instinct that she vowed to continue using. She was firm, upright and delivered her point with excellence, shutting Haley up and, dare we say, impressing her.

This victory may or may not be short-lived, but it was a necessary moment of glory that Alex needed and, quite frankly, deserved. It will be very interesting to see how things progress between the pair from here.
