Supergirl Season 4 Finale: 9 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Quest For Peace'
3. Jon Cryer's Performance
Look, there is absolutely no understating this: Jon Cryer may just be the best Lex Luthor to ever grace the screen. Yes, you heard it here first, folks.
In a mere three episodes, he has managed to nail all three faces of Lex, effortlessly changing between the character's calculating, manipulative and unhinged personalities whenever the story required him to. All of that was on full display in the season finale when he returned to the forefront after a few weeks off-screen and, in a single scene, he reminded all of us how much we had missed him.
Seeing Lex manipulate his way to the top felt unfathomable and yet Cryer made it all seem plausible. He was charismatic, intimidating and unusually charming as, for a few moments, Lex had allowed himself to believe that he'd achieved his ultimate goal. Oh yeah, and his crazed rendition of Frank Sinatra's 'My Way' was nothing short of superb - psychotic, but superb.
You know you've nailed the villainous role when your character is about to get the comeuppance that he deserves and yet nobody actually wants him to. Well, Cryer can rest assured knowing that he made a so many viewers feel this way because his portrayal of Lex Luthor was just too good to lose - and based on the finale's ending, we may not have to lose him after all.
From "Miss Teschmacher!" to ruling to the White House, he has been a joy to watch.
