Supergirl Season 4 Finale: 9 Ups & 2 Downs From 'The Quest For Peace'
4. REDemption
One of the episode's more surprising moments (and considering how many of those there were, that's really saying something) came in its opening scene when we discovered that the Red Daughter's death was merely a smoke-screen as Supergirl's doppelganger was actually still alive.
Now, this was undoubtedly a wise choice because that underwhelming death tease in last week's episode would have been an incredibly disappointing way to end her season-long arc. But thankfully the writers agreed and decided to give her an ending she deserved as, upon learning of Lex's dastardly plans (and being freed by Team Supergirl), the Red Daughter sought to put things right. She ultimately did just that when she sacrificed herself to protect Kara from Lex.
This was a hero's death, befitting of the strong character and, it was one that allowed her to achieve the redemption she desired - and, as her own Harun-El-infused energy returned to its source (Supergirl), it pushed the Girl of Steel to finally stop Lex.
In a way, the Red Daughter did defeat him after all.
