Supernatural: 10 Biggest Fan-Service Moments

7. Bobby Returns

Supernatural Fan Fiction Musical Episode
The CW

Supernatural spawned many memorable supporting characters that were embraced and loved by fans, from Castiel to Charlie; Kevin to Jodie. But one of the earliest supporting characters introduced in the show became one of the most beloved for the entire 15-year run: Bobby Singer.

Introduced at the end of the first season, viewers fell in love with the grizzled Hunter with a heart of gold, and he quickly became an integral part of the show's fabric. Bobby filled the void left behind by John Winchester and served as a source of support and wisdom for the "idjits" Sam and Dean.

Bobby became such a beloved part of the show that when he met his untimely end in the seventh season, people were gutted. Thankfully, the showrunners were clearly aware of how they felt and didn't wait too long before bringing Bobby back. In fact, a trend quickly emerged, with Bobby tending to make at least one appearance in every season after his death. This would either be as a spirit in Hell or Heaven, in flashbacks, or ultimately as an alternate Bobby from a parallel universe.

And while 'Apocalypse World' Bobby wasn't the same loveable grouch that the audience (and the Winchesters) had come to love, it still gave the writers a way to bring a version of Bobby back as a regular presence for the show's final few seasons. Many characters were resurrected throughout the show, but it's clear that the fans' love for Bobby earned him special treatment.
