There is more than one version of the Rawhead in mythology. Known as "Rawhead and Bloody Bones" as it originates from Northern England, the Rawhead is a water demon that inhabits deep ponds and marl-pits, and drags children into its lair. The name is often shortened to Bloody Bones, Old Bloody Bones, or Tommy Rawhead. The Rawhead in Supernatural is a rather original monster, tho.

Being that type that lurks in basements and preys upon children, Rawheads are hairy, ragged-looking humanoids with leathery skin, and clawed fingers and toes. He is covered all over with matted hair and has pale flat eyes and a bat-like nose. We are introduced to this gross beast once Sam and Dean hunt it down in mentioned basement, where they find a boy and girl hiding inside a cupboard. As they are taking the children to safety, the Rawhead ambushes them.

In the series it is considered as a Hunter with super-strength, coming from an apocalyptic world. Despite its large size, the Rawhead can move pretty quick, something that makes him an even more terrifying predator - even if he looks like a homeless person. Another chill factor is, that the Rawhead prefers hiding spots in dark corners, inside cupboards and under your stairs ...
