Supernatural: 10 Most Terrifying Creatures
2. Siren
At this point, it's needless to say that you better forget about the golden haired mermaids you know from your picture books or Disney adaptations. Supernatural reinvents this popular mer-creature and makes some creepy tweaks to turn it into an ugly, hairless, and vaguely human-like being.
The Siren in the show can take different forms to lure and compel humans. This makes them perform drastic acts to prove their love and devotion to the Siren. These acts are usually destructive or violent, and mostly result in death. Not much is known about them, due to the fact that they are creatures rarely seen outside their own realm. Once they capture a victim, the fishy foes infect their prey with large doses of the hormone oxytocin and persuade them to do whatever atrocious acts they want.
Supernatural's Sirens also use their victims to infect them with an intense sense of euphoria and love for the creature that extends beyond just the physical and/or sexual tasks. Victims truly love their Siren to the core, and desire exactly what the creature desires for itself. As an act of love and devotion the ensnared are "willing" to carry out drastic tasks. Free will, anybody... ? Once these acts of violence are enacted, the Siren "gets bored" and immediately vanishes, leaving their victims emotionally broken to deal with the consequences of their own actions.
