Without a shadow of a doubt, Lucifer has by far caused the most pain and destruction all throughout the show.

Many of those already mentioned on this list were either in servitude or at least created by Lucifer. Without him, there would be no demons for the Winchesters to have fought against.

Even Azazel was only acting under orders. Lucifer has killed countless angels, hunters, demons, and even gods from other pantheons.

So much build-up was centred around the return of Lucifer from his cage and it more than paid off. The soulless Sam storyline, the involvement of Michael and Gabriel, sending the Four Horseman, all of these moments became some of the shows greatest arcs.

Lucifer may not have been the final big bad of the series but he remains the most influential villain.
