Swamp Thing TV Show: 8 Things You Need To Know
1. The TV Show Has A LOT Of Talent Attached
Currently what we know about the show is fairly basic. At New York Comic Con it was announced that the series would air on the DC Universe service, and be produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, Mark Verheiden, and Gary Dauberman. Verheiden and Dauberman will also be writing the series.
Casting wise, Andy Bean will play Alec Holland, the human consciousness of the Swamp Thing, while Derek Mears will be the body-man for the Swamp Thing proper. Will Patton will play Avery Sunderland - shrewd businessman and CEO of the Sunderland Corporation - and Virginia Madsen has been cast as Maria Sunderland, Avery's wife.
Crystal Reed is playing Abigail Arcane, an aristocratic empath who would later become married to the Swamp Thing. Jeryl Prescott is Madame Xanadu, one of the big names of the mystical DC Universe. Maria Sten will play Liz Tremayne, an investigative reporter looking into the "deaths" of Alec Holland and Linda Holland, and Henderson Wade is going to be Matt Cable, the government agent assigned to protect Alec and Linda Holland during their research.
Jennifer Beals is also attached to the show, although her role has yet to be specified.
While no definitive plot has been given, with a cast like that it'd safe to assume that the plot will play it close to the Alec Holland origin story, as well as potentially taking inspiration from Len Wein's original run on the character.
Apart from that, we know for a fact that Swamp Thing will air sometime in 2019. Given how rich the character's source material is, fans should start getting excited.
