Second only to Chris Argent on the character arc scale, Lydia's transformation over the course of the show was truly astounding, and thanks to some top-notch writing and a consistently ace performance from Holland Roden, Lydia is well deserving of her place this high on the list.

During the first couple of seasons, Lydia was romantically linked to Jackson and spent much of her timing vying for people's attention and basking in her popularity. Intelligent and acting otherwise, her early days on the show were spent trying to be the girl everyone in school wanted to be.

But after a run in with Peter and a sudden introduction to the world of supernatural, she found herself with powers of her own - the powers of a banshee, able to detect death and when someone is in danger. With her newfound powers, she became a wholly new character and shed her previous image, becoming a good friend with the rest of the gang and an invaluable member of Scott's pack.

On top of such an epic arc, she was also one of the show's funniest and most loyal characters, and by season four she was also one of the most selfless. With every season offering something new for her, Lydia owned every aspect of her story and brightened up the show just by turning up.
