The Chris Gethard Show: 15 Greatest Moments
6. FEAR: A Comedy Show With Aidy Bryant
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQruOwtzYnQThe strongest episode of the first Fusion season sees Chris Gethard taking a headfirst dive into some of his deepest fears. For instance, an entire portion of the episode is controlled by his older brother Gregg and there is nothing he can do about it. Gregg, after bursting in with his own destructive entrance music, schmoozes with guest Aidy Bryant and forces audience members to carry him to his interview seat, among other things. The playful evil of the elder Gethard is a welcome addition to the show and will hopefully see a return in the future.
Earlier in the show, the string of callers are some of the most consistent of all time. No story falls flat and every caller's fear is delightfully examined by the panel. The ever-reliable Aidy Bryant, who was a perfect addition to several of the show's public access episodes, returns and is in top form the whole time.
The most effective bit is the return of the blindfold show from the public access days, in which the panel is blindfolded and forced to experience a series of agonizing behaviors from others who work on the show. The genuine fear emanating from the panel is unnerving, and the last element introduced to the sensory torture of the segment makes for one of the most tense moments in the show's history.
